SSI and SSD Appeals

Social Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability (SSD) are programs for low income disabled individuals that are unable to work. The resources provided by this program are truly a lifeline. But, 65% of SSI and SSD applications are denied by Social Security. Evidence that this high proportion of denials is a reflection of the complex application process rather than the merits of the case, is the fact that 62% of appeals of those denials are successful which results in a finding of disability and benefits being paid to the claimant. In partnership with the Legal Aid Society, the MSMLP works with patients in navigating the many aspects of an SDI or SSD appeal, greatly increasing their chance of a successful appeal.
