At our hospitals, legal clinics are held on a regular basis to offer patients counsel and representation on matters ranging from housing to immigration.
LegalHealth, a division of the New York Legal Assistance Group, pioneered the first medical-legal partnership in New York City at Mount Sinai Hospital in 2001. It now has seven legal clinics within the Mount Sinai Health System, providing services to our neediest patients. From regularizing the immigration status of undocumented New Yorkers to stabilizing the housing of those on the brink of homelessness, LegalHealth has handled 12,000 legal matters for Mount Sinai patients.
The Duane Morris law firm provides legal services to the patients in need both at Mount Sinai Brooklyn and Mount Sinai Queens. Duane Morris has developed a comprehensive pro bono program which provides clinics twice a month in Queens and accepts case referrals from patients in Brooklyn.
